HTC One S gets manhandled once more before its announcement

HTC will hold its MWC press conference in less than 48 hours, so there is still time for some leaked product images, right? The company's upcoming One S mid-range device has just emerged fresh from yet another photo shoot, where it happily posed alongside an HTC Sensation.

Previously, known as HTC Ville, the One S is going to be positioned under the quad-core One X, and bound to pack a serious punch for a mid-range device. The smartphone is expected to feature a dual-core CPU, 4.3" AMOLED display, 8MP camera, Beats Audio, and Android 4.0 ICS with Sense 4.0.

As you can also see from the photos above, the HTC One S is seriously slimmer than the Sensation - a welcome change from the current HTC offerings.

We will be covering the HTC press conference on Sunday live, so expect the full scoop on the One S, together with the rest of the company's lineup.

Future iOS versions to ask users before uploading contact data

Recently, social networking application Path came under fire for anonymously uploading contact data to its servers without the user's permission. This is a common practice among a lot of popular apps such as Instagram, Facebook, Foursquare, etc., which use this data to find other people you know who may also be using that service.

But even though Path later apologized and deleted the data from their servers, and also issued an update that explicitly asks for your permission before uploading your contacts, the issue continued to escalate, until it eventually reached Apple.

So now Apple has come out and said they will be releasing an update to iOS that will ask the user through a pop-up notification if he or she wants to share their contact information with the application. This will be similar to the location notification that pops up in iOS when apps ask for location information. This will ensure that no app will ever upload your contact information without your explicit permission.

Apple did not comment on when this update will be released.

ZTE announces two Android 4.0 smartphones before MWC

It seems ZTE just couldn't wait for MWC (which will begin next week) to announce two of its upcoming Android smartphone. Both of these new phones will be running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.

The first one is the PF200, which will be a high-end model. It has a 4.3-inch display with 960 x 540 resolution, 1.2GHz processor (likely to be dual-core), 8 megapixel rear camera with a 1080p front facing video camera, LTE, DLNA, MHL and NFC connectivity.

The second one is the N910, which should be a mid-range model and will work on CDMA networks. It will have a 800 x 480 resolution display of unknown size, 1.5GHz processor (likely to be single-core), 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, 1080p front facing video camera, LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and DLNA connectivity.

Unfortunately, the other details are scarce, including what they look like. But with MWC just a week away, we wouldn't have to wait too long.

Update: Images added.
