Motorola unveils Droid RAZR MAXX "Red Carpet" edition

This should hardly catch you by surprise, as we all know that putting the product in the hands of a celebrity tends to bode well for its sales. Motorola announced today the Droid RAZR MAXX "Red Carpet" edition - a limited run of the regular Droid RAZR MAXX, dressed in red, and available only to select few Academy Award nominees and presenters.

The Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX "Red Carpet" edition gift set will include a gold pouch for the ladies, and a high-end shaving kit for the lucky males. A Motorola ELITE SLIVER Bluetooth? headset will be included as well.

There is no change in the newcomer's specs, compared to those of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX, which is available to the mortals, save for the red color scheme. You can check out our impressions from the droid here.

The phone will not become available to the general public in the future. Motorola plan to give only five units away to participants in the company's Twitter sweepstakes. You can find more info on this special occasion here.

Water-resistant 13MP Fujitsu droid with Tegra 3 to come at MWC

Fujitsu teased its Tegra 3 smartphone at CES in January and promised to tell us more about it at the MWC at the end of this month. As it turns out, the wait has been well worth it, as the prototype about to be showcased has more than a powerful chipset to show.

The company gave us some details about the smartphone in advance and we got to know that it will pack an impressive 13 megapixel camera and NFC connectivity. There's also going to be a fingerprint scanner onoboard, so you can prevent unauthorized access to your smartphone.

One of the coolest bits about the upcoming Fujitsu smartphone is that it will be both water and dust resistant. We assume it's using some kind of nanocoating as most of the phones from Japanese manufacturers demonstrated at CES.

Coming with a 4.6" screen, this Fujistu smartphone is shaping up to be one of the hottest smartphones of the season. We'll make sure to stop by the company's booth at the MWC and see if the actual product matches the high expectations created by those specs. Here's hoping!

Verizon to sell Limited Edition DROID RAZR to its employees

Android and Me has received an email from a Verizon employee that claims that Verizon is going to sell Limited Edition versions of the DROID RAZR and the DROID RAZR MAXX exclusively to its employees.

These special models will be priced at $99 for the 16GB RAZR and $199 for the 32GB RAZR MAXX and will all have a unique four digit number engraved on the front and the back. Considering it is a four digit number, it is evident that at least 1,000 of such devices will be made.

The Limited Edition model will also have a unique red color scheme for the Kevlar on the back and come with a free dock.

These phones are expected to release some time in April. Too bad they won't be available to the public because that red color looks hot.
